I was going to get used to Google’s new social network before blogging about it, and then I Googled myself shortly after joining and noticed a change in the results.
My Google profile has just shot up the rankings (surprise, surprise) to take the top spot that my LinkedIn profile previously occupied.
The snippet view also features the first three sites I’ve linked my Google profile to, providing extra links from the Google search results page to my LinkedIn profile, my Digital Pharma blog for work and my Twitter account.
Aside from a single namesake in the US, I have a fairly unique name online (and my blogs, tweets and other assorted social media uses help maintain this). Throw into the mix the different versions of Google that we all see and it’s harder still to pronounce definitively that Google Plus will improve your personal search engine optimisation.
Nevertheless, one thing’s certain – I’ve never seen my Facebook profile this high in search results.
